I completely recommend them to you, your mother, your father, your best friend, your pastor, your grandma, your great grandpa, your aunts and uncles, and your strange cousin who picks her nose at the dinner table.
I love spending time with him :)
I hate that there’s just never enough of it :(
And I mean that authentic, genuine, soul-consuming devotion between two people, more attention is paid to mutual happiness and satisfaction and less to other expectations but your own. When it comes to questions and judgement, there’s not a world of pressure to defend it or justify it. It’s really easy to become caught up in flaunting it and declaring your all-powerful, eternal, life-changing bond with another human being and who carez wat da haterz say. This is incredibly cheesy, but it’s true: you just know.
I want to take cute kissy pictures at the mall photobooths with you. I want to hold hands during the scary parts of the movies. I want to argue about Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings with you. I want to hold your hand during car rides and kiss you at every red light and stop sign. I want to try really hard not to cry when you say your wedding vows and I want you to try really hard not to kiss me before the preacher even says “You may now kiss the bride.” I want you to be the man by my side every morning, at every anniversary, and in the delivery room during the birth of our future children… and I apologize ahead of time if I act anything less than thrilled when I’m having your offspring. :)
I don’t require anything from you other than every single inch of your heart… and so far, that seems to be working out just fine.
Many times when I see people blantantly disrespecting God, my immediate thought is
“Uh huh, I know they did not just diss my father like that…hold my earrings”
But then I have to stop, and remember that they do not not God the way that I know him: loving, kind, a father to the fatherless, redeemer, savior, healer, my provider, my shelter, the lover of my soul, my everything.
And when unbelievers don’t know these attributes of God they down grade his name, but remember we defend our faith, not God. He does not need us to stick up for him. Just look as the universe, the earth, our lives, the that fact that we wake up every morning and take another breath; I think God has been defending himself pretty well since before the beginning of time.
